The present study deals with the HPTLC profile of Nilavembukudineer a conventional Siddha medicine vis-à-vis the Dr. JRK’s NIKU (Nilavembukudineer) prepared by fusing science and simplicity with ancient tradition. The findings reveal that the Nilavembukudineer prepared as per the traditional know how showed an incomparable HPTLC pattern with the individual plants used in the formulation, whereas the profile of Dr. JRK’s NIKU prepared by modern method displayed complete conformity with the profile of individual plants. The findings of SEM also supported the inference of the study. The present study warrants serious review of all traditional drugs through modern technology to ascertain the quality and efficacy.
