Abstract

The topic of dermatology encompasses the study and exploration of alternative therapies for the treatment of diverse skin problems. The field of dermatology has always relied on conventional medicine as its primary method. However, there is a growing interest and demand among patients with dermatological issues for alternative therapies (Doğan and Kemaloğlu, 2016). According to survey data, a considerable proportion of individuals seeking dermatological treatment, ranging from 35% to 69%, have experimented with various complementary or alternative medicine modalities in an attempt to address their skin disorders. The rise in the use of alternative treatments in the field of dermatology may be ascribed to several reasons, one of which is the depiction of complementary and alternative medicine as both efficacious and secure in mainstream media. Furthermore, the attractiveness of alternative remedies is further enhanced by the limits of mainstream medicine in effectively treating certain dermatological diseases. Individuals diagnosed with dermatological problems often encounter challenges that significantly affect their overall quality of life. Remarkably, research has shown that the detrimental impact experienced by these patients is comparable to, or even surpasses, the negative effects reported by individuals diagnosed with cancer. According to Parvizi et al. (2021), cardiac illnesses are a significant concern. The significance of these shared characteristics might be deemed noteworthy due to the frequent lack of satisfactory response of dermatological conditions to conventional medical treatments (The architecture of skin: Concepts from ayurveda and computer modeling, 2020). Given the aforementioned challenges, it is evident that patients, particularly those residing in various countries worldwide, are increasingly inclined towards embracing integrative and complementary medicine, as well as natural and herbal remedies, acupuncture, exercise, and psychological and nutritional interventions as means to effectively address skin conditions. Parvizi et al. (2021) conducted the study. The proposition of integrating orthodox dermatology with alternative therapies has been put out as a comprehensive and efficacious approach to dermatological care (The structure of skin: Concepts from ayurveda and computer modeling, 2020).
