Desenvolvimento Dos Ovários Em Fêmeas De Coptotermes Gestroi (Isoptera, Rhinotermitidae)

Abstract

Os ovários dos cupins são constituídos por ovaríolos panoísticos. Cada ovaríolo apresenta uma região apical, seguida pelo germário e vitelário, de localização basal. \textit{Coptotermes gestroi} possui rainha fisogástrica com considerável oviposição. Visando aumentar o conhecimento deste processo, este estudo analisou comparativamente os ovários de diferentes fêmeas: ninfas, aladas, no início da fundação da colônia e fêmeas de colônias maduras utilizando análise histológica do abdômen. As fêmeas foram coletadas em armadilhas (ninfas), revoada, colônias de laboratório (de 30 dias a 8 anos) e em um ninho natural. A histologia mostrou que nos ovários de ninfas existem somente ovócitos pré-vitelogênicos. Ninfas e rainhas virgens apresentaram uma espermateca desprovida de espermatozoides, contudo, em rainhas virgens o lúmen da espermateca continha secreção característica, provavelmente em função de nutrição dos espermatozoides. Fêmeas aladas apresentaram os mesmos estágios de ovócitos no vitelário, ou seja, 3 estágios pré-vitelogênicos (I, II e III) e 2 estágios vitelogênicos (IV e V). Os ovários de rainhas de 30 e 60 dias foram bastante similares, ou seja, tinham de 7 a 10 ovaríolos. O primeiro ciclo de oviposição geralmente se iniciou na segunda semana depois do pareamento, contudo, este ciclo dependeu da temperatura, e foi seguido por um período inativo (parada da reprodução) de 3 a 4 meses. Nas rainhas em oviposição os ovócitos no vitelário apresentaram 6 estágios de desenvolvimento progressivo: estágios I, II e III com ovócitos de textura homogênea, pré-vitelogênicos e basófilos; estágios IV, V e VI com ovócitos vitelogênicos.
