The ASCAPE Security GateKeeper: A security framework integrated into the ASCAPE Framework. The main functionality provided by the Security Gatekeeper component is centralized authentication, authorization, and auditing so that all components can communicate through a secure environment. It will be a flexible, modular solution capable of addressing user-level and component-level access, allowing integration with HIS user identity providers that follow authentication standards such as Open ID Connect and SAML 2.0 or providing separate ASCAPE-specific user identities. It comprises components deployed at the edge and components deployed at the cloud, the ASCAPE Edge Security GateKeeper and the ASCAPE Cloud Security GateKeeper respectively.
