Os Cupins No Cotidiano De Estudantes De Ensino Fundamental E Médio

Abstract

Ao longo do tempo a população vem solidificando conceitos desarmônicos em relação aos cupins. Este estudo mostra como alunos do 9° ano (Ensino Fundamental-EF) e 3° ano (Ensino Médio-EM) de três escolas estaduais de Campina Grande (PB) percebem a presença dos cupins no seu cotidiano. Os dados obtidos a partir de 150 respondentes para cada ano escolar mostraram que 96,7% (EM e EF) classificou-os como “animais pequenos” e invertebrados. O termo “praga” foi vinculado a doenças ou destruição, e 76% do total de alunos não comeria insetos/cupins. Quanto ao habitat dos cupins, 73,7% dos alunos (EF e EM) disseram eles vivem na madeira; talvez pelo consumo de madeira. Apesar de 91% dos alunos afirmarem conhecer os cupins e 77% afirmarem ter o visto, seja por livros, fotos, TV, ou pessoalmente, 51,8% dos estudantes do EF e 56,9% do EM disseram que eles se parecem com as formigas. Talvez pela associação morfológica entre os adultos desses organismos, e pela sociabilidade de ambos. Os alunos também disseram ter medo de cupins (13% - EF e EM); 55,3% do total deles opinou que os cupins fazem mal ao ser humano e/ou ao meio ambiente. Os dados reforçam a necessidade de se ampliar a discussão a respeito dos insetos/cupins no ambiente escolar, em especial aos cupins, mostrando valores bioecológicos desses organismos ao meio ambiente, que por consequência beneficia o homem, em especial aquele do campo, haja vista seu alto poder de reciclagem da matéria e re-estruturação química e física do solo.
