For restoration of metabolic reactions disturbed by stress one uses natural complexes separated from seaweed, which contents biologically active substances of broad spectrum activity. The purpose of the current study was to explore the preventive action of water-alcohol extract obtained from the thallus of green seaweed Ulava lactuca L. on to the liver metabolic reactions in rats at acute stress. Acute stress simulated by upright fixation of animals by dorsal neck fold for 24 hours. Preparations administered intragastrically twice, right before the upright fixation and after 6 hours. Commercial specimen “Essentiale®” was used as a reference preparation. After noci-influence, defined the viscera weight index (adrenals, thymus, spleen), ulcers count in gastric mucosa, examine the biochemical indexes of liver lipids metabolism and antioxidant system. Administration of the extract from U. lactuca at experimental stress injury followed with pronounced protective effect, which manifested in preserving of animals viscera weigh factors, preventing of stomach mucosa ulcers formation, normalizing general lipids contents and phospholipids fractions, as well as superoxide dismutase activity and liver antiradical activity. Extract from U. lactuca possessed high performance in suppression of fatty liver development and preserving of it esterifying function, as well as inhibition of free-radicals induced lipids peroxidation (reduction of malone dialdehyde contents). At this exploring extract from seaweed was as effective as reference preparation “Essentiale®” in preserving liver metabolic reactions at extreme stress exposure. Pronounced protective effect of extract from U. lactuca specified by associated action of “sea” nature phospholipids, PUFA of omega-3 family and antioxidant polyphenols found in its contents
