Les réseaux sociaux numériques à l'épreuve de l'expression démocratique en Côte d'Ivoire

Abstract

S’inscrivant à la fois dans la théorie de l’agenda setting et de l’espace public médiatisé, cette recherche analyse la contribution des réseaux sociaux numériques dans l’expression démocratique en Côte d’Ivoire. La population en général et singulièrement les hommes politiques ivoiriens ont de plus en plus recours à ces plateformes numériques pour informer et s’informer. Contrairement aux médias classiques, ces nouveaux espaces numériques sont devenus de véritables tribunes politiques. Ce travail qualitatif s’est construit sur l’étude d’un corpus constitué de 20 vidéos sélectionnées sur Facebook et YouTube, de 10 captures d’écran composées de commentaires d’internautes sur Facebook et Twitter. Les résultats révèlent que les RSN jouent un rôle important non seulement dans la médiatisation de l’information, mais aussi dans la mobilisation et la contestation socio-politique en Côte d’Ivoire. Toutefois, bien que se positionnant comme un contre-pouvoir dans le cyberespace ivoirien en construisant l’opinion publique, ces plateformes n’ont, pour l’heure, pas de fonction délibérative significative dans le jeu démocratique. L’engagement citoyen et la participation populaire sont plus virtuels que physiques.
