Urban transformation has become a significant concept in the process of growth and change in modern cities. This doctoral thesis, titled "Preserving Urbanization and City Memory in Urban Transformation for the Future," explores the interaction between urban transformation and the process of urbanization, as well as how city memory can be preserved and sustained within this context. The thesis emphasizes the critical importance of city memory in preserving a city's identity and character. In this context, an analysis is presented that suggests urban transformation should consider not only the physical structures but also the cultural and historical elements. The study conducts a detailed examination of various urban transformation projects implemented in different cities and analyzes their impact on the local community's way of life, history, culture, and social dynamics. The research highlights the significance of a sustainable urbanization model that carries the past and culture into the future. The findings of the thesis reveal that city memory needs to be preserved during urban transformation, but it is often overlooked in favor of economic benefits.
