Abstract

La continua necesidad que tiene la sociedad para la sustituir materiales sintetizados a partir derivados del petróleo en las diferentes aplicaciones tecnológicas o ambientales, ha venido motivando continuamente la investigación en materiales y estructuras con nuevas alternativas que disminuyan la utilización de dichos materiales. Referente a esto, desarrollamos una opción para la implementación en estructuras y acabados de un material laminado a partir de la guadua Angustifolia Kunth denominado GUALAM, en el cual se utiliza un aglutinante natural, resaltando el uso de solamente insumos naturales para su producción. GUALAM está compuesto por láminas delgadas que varían en tamaño desde 30 cm por 30 cm hasta 122 cm por 244 cm, con un espesor de entre 3 mm y 4 mm. En el presente estudio, se evalúan las propiedades físicas de estos laminados, a través de medidas de esfuerzo por tensión en función de la deformación en probetas de láminas de guadua de espesores de 3 mm. Así mismo, se presentan los resultados de pruebas de compresión para vigas hechas en guadua donde se comparan los resultados con los obtenidos con otros tipos de maderas tales como pino, madera sajo y madera uparán, entre otros. Estos resultados motivan la implementación de GUALAM en diversas aplicaciones y objetos, tales como papeleras, carcasas de celulares, lámparas y demás que contengan materia prima derivada del petróleo.
