This codebase calculates various environmental indicators for all state and federal prisons in the U.S., but is designed to perform these calculations for any spatial boundary input. There are individual functions/scripts for 11 different environmental indicators. A full table of indicators, links to raw data download, filenames of associated processing scripts, method description, and dataset specs can be found at: https://github.com/GeospatialCentroid/NASA-prison-EJ/blob/main/doc/indicator_metadata.md. The majority of the codebase in in R, with two indicators (heat exposure [i.e., summer land surface temperature] and canopy cover) calculated using Google Earth Engine and each have their own reproducible python script to do so. The rest of the indicators each have their own R function to process the dataset for the given spatial boundary.
