Not surprising emergence of antimicrobial resistance is often described as one of the greatest current global threats and challenges to man. Principles joint action on several levels are needed (study, monitoring and control) and there are exhibited by European Committee in “Action plan against rising threats from antimicrobial resistance” during 2011. The plan acknowledges a serious approach comprising actions in several different sectors such as medicine, veterinary medicine animal husbandry, agriculture, environment and trade. To be effective and relevant actions against resistance must be based on sound knowledge of the current situation and of trends over time. The data generated so far, and in the future, is needed of expert reports and guidance for necessity of elaboration a strategies with regard to antimicrobial resistance on a national level.
