La acción pedagógica tradicional en la geografía escolar contemporánea y el enfoque cualitativo

Abstract

Resumen Desde mediados del siglo XX, es evidente el reiterativo cuestionamiento al proceso de enseñanza y de aprendizaje que caracteriza a la geografía escolar, a pesar de las investigaciones y aportes teóricos y metodológicos para innovar su tarea formativa. El acento transmisivo y el afecto a la memorización, entre otros, son objeto de la atención de docentes investigadores, pues resulta contradictorio con los avances teóricos de la geografía, la pedagogía y la didáctica; por ejemplo, con la geografía humanística, la pedagogía crítica y la didáctica problematizadora. De allí que se asuma como objetivo explicar la acción pedagógica tradicional en la geografía escolar contemporánea y el enfoque cualitativo. Metodológicamente, se determinó realizar una investigación documental, cuyas referencias bibliográficas permitieron estructurar una reflexión sobre la vigencia de la orientación pedagógica tradicional en la geografía escolar y las razones de su renovación. Se considera en la opinión de los expertos que la persistencia de la labor pedagógica originada en el siglo XIX, es una dificultad epistémica de acento científico positivista que impide entender la realidad geográfica del momento histórico, pues desarrolla su acto educante restringido al reduccionismo científico, el enciclopedismo, el determinismo, lo memorístico, su limitación al aula de clase y sus contenidos circunscritos a los aspecto físico-naturales del territorio. Se concluye al plantear la exigencia de modernizar la enseñanza geográfica, al estudiar los problemas geográficos con el ejercicio de la investigación, para humanizar el aprovechamiento del territorio y concientizar los ciudadanos sobre el tratamiento ecológico que mejore la complejidad geográfica del mundo contemporáneo.
