Abstract

Tumbuhan katimaha (Kleinhovia hospital L.) merupakan salah satu sumber daya alam hayati Indonesia yang perlu diberdayakan secara ilmiah. Tumbuhan ini mengandung senyawaan bahan alam yang dapat dimanfaatkan secara tradisional untuk keperluan hidup manusia. Katimaha di daerah Kalimantan Selatan secara empirik dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat sekitarnya untuk mencegah pertumbuhan uban pada rambut kepala. Namun untuk pemanfaatan daun tersebut belum ada kajian yang membuktikannya secara ilmiah. Pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan uji kualitatif secara fitokimia dan uji kuantitatif untuk mengetahui dan menentukan konsentrasi senyawaan bahan alam alkaloid, flavonoid, saponin, steroid, triterpenoid, glikosida jantung, dan tannin yang terkandung dalam daun katimaha. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa daun katimaha (+) mengandung alkaloid, flavonoid, dan saponin. Besarnya kandungan senyawaan tersebut dalam ekstrak kasarnya adalah alkaloid 2,83%, flavonoid 19,78%, dan saponin 14,23%.
