Abstract

Indian Sign Language (ISL) plays a crucial role in facilitating communication and expression for individuals with hearing and speech impairments in India. This article provides a comprehensive review of Indian Sign Language, focusing on its structure, grammar, vocabulary, cultural aspects, and its significance for deaf and dumb individuals. The review explores the challenges and advancements in the understanding and documentation of ISL, as well as its implications for education, social inclusion, and accessibility. The article aims to shed light on the importance of recognizing and promoting Indian Sign Language as a rich and vital means of communication for the deaf and dumb community in India
