ABSTRACT This essay addresses the theme of one of the most iconic songs in the history of international music: November Rain, written by the Californian hardcore band Guns N´ Roses, present on the album Use Your Illusion I, released in 1991. work is an analysis of how the song goes from classic to epic, in an infinitely short space of time, disregarding all the time it spent being designed and arranged, within the musical scope planned by the band's musicians, in particular, their vocalist, Axl Rose. The year after its release, the music video for the song is released, becoming a resounding success, through a surreal and unimaginable production, in the music industry, until then. The methodology used was that of hermeneutic analysis, based on interviews published by members of the band about the story of that song and, in the reading of the short story Without You, by Del James, which has an introduction by Axl Rose and which, through this introductory text, much is clarified about the final production of the song and its subsequent insertion in the short film based on the story, which makes it rise to stardom and become a musical phenomenon. November Rain is a song that has lyrics that are very typical of someone alienated in their own world, expressed in the form of an existential, gothic poem, where the composer presents a very intense conflict situation, caused by the excessive care of his partner; but, that due to his unstable psychological state and, bordering on insanity, he interprets it as a nervous tension, something as if he felt suffocated, not by her love, but by her excessive protection; however, his unconscious interprets these confused feelings as a form of survival, understanding that, if left to himself, he would succumb to the madness that his existence represents.
