ABSTRACT This article is based on a theoretical view. It highlights the connection between biological and socio-affective aspects, based on the identification of oxytocin as an influential neurotransmitter in social, interactional and psycho-affective skills. Behavior and decision-making in social contexts are complex cognitive processes involving multiple neural circuits associated with the processing of emotions, motivations and thoughts. These processes involve different neurotransmission systems, in which the role of oxytocin has been highlighted. Oxytocin is a neuropeptide produced by the hypothalamus, whose social cognitive functions have been widely addressed in studies of behavior and social decision. It is possible that oxytocin participates in social decision-making and behavioral attitudes through interactions in central reward systems, facilitating reward-modulated social learning. The research methodology is characterized as a theoretical elaboration, intending to gather scientific deepening from the proposed theme, with the purpose of harmonizing concepts and ideas in favor of an epistemological knowledge.
