The paper focuses on the aspects of applying Article 357(1) § 1 of the Polish Civil Code in the face of SARSCoV-2 epidemic. The ongoing epidemic of coronavirus 2019 (COVID 19) has led to severe economic disruption. The econonomic implications of the outbreak cause difficulties of respecting the contracts. The so-called rebus sic stantibus clause is governed by the article 357(1) of the Polish Civil Code. The clause treats about the substantial change of circumstances of the obligations of the contracts. The clause enables the court to change the obligations or to terminate the contracts.
