The Centre for Plant Genome Engineering (CPGE) was established at Heinrich Heine University Dusseldorf in 2020. It is associated with the Cluster of Excellence in Plant Science, which includes Heinrich Heine University, the University of Cologne, and the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research and Research Centre Julich. The CPGE provides expertise and services related to the genetic transformation of plants, targeted mutagenesis using customized endonucleases, and the development and implementation of expression systems. They use transformation protocols based on Agrobacterium tumefaciens and biolistic methods. Reporter genes encoding Green fluorescent protein or RUBY are used to establish transformation protocols or test expression systems. Barley, tobacco, and Arabidopsis are routinely transformed, and the portfolio also includes sunflower, amaranth, and lupin. Two in vitro culture regeneration systems have been optimized for receiving transgenic or mutant plants for somatic embryogenesis and organogenesis. The methods and protocols allow for identifying molecular networks underlying chloroplast development, plant-microbe interactions, and minimizing photorespiration. Barley grain is used as a natural bioreactor for the accumulation of recombinant proteins known as molecular farming.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 0 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
