O MÉTODO PILATES: PRINCÍPIOS E ESPECIFICIDADES PARA A SAÚDE

Abstract

A vida dos indivíduos e todos os seus afazeres vem acompanhada de responsabilidades que fazem com que, com o tempo, se tornem menos ativos e, muitas vezes, sejam acompanhados de doenças e de patologias. Uma das estratégias para uma vida ativa e saudável é o Método Pilates. Portanto o objetivo deste estudo foi analisar e criticar a literatura científica acerca do Método Pilates a fim de contribuir para a compreensão de seus princípios e especificidades no campo da saúde. O presente estudo possui caráter descritivo e caracteriza-se como uma revisão narrativa de literatura com o propósito de analisar e interpretar a produção científica existente acerca do Método Pilates. As bases de dados utilizadas para a busca foram a Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) e a Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências de Saúde (LILACS) e Portal CAPES. Além de arquivos pessoais dos autores, como livros específicos do Método Pilates não presentes em bases de dados. A pesquisa fundamentou-se nos Descritores em Ciências da Saúde (DeCS) “Pilates” e “Método Pilates”. A revisão final contou com 18 trabalhos. Os resultados revelam que, embora já se percebam tantos benefícios relacionados ao Método Pilates, é importante verificar, como os profissionais da saúde se apropriam desses conhecimentos e como os usuários se beneficiam em seu cotidiano no enfrentamento das doenças. Nesse contexto, é essencial compreender as características e especificidades do Método para então aplicá-lo com qualidade no campo da saúde.
