Abstract

Vor 50 Jahren, im Herbst 1970, wurde das erste Frankfurter Haus besetzt. Um die historistischen Wohnblocks durch Hochhaus-Neubauten ersetzen zu können, wurden damals angestammte Mieter aktiv verdrängt. 1970 protestierten Bewohner, Studierende und Gastarbeiter daher gegen die Interessen der Immobilienwirtschaft. Diese – teils auch gewaltsam ausgetragenen – Konflikte markierten einen Wendepunkt in der Stadtplanung und stärkten nicht zuletzt die Denkmalpflege. Heute geraten viele Quartiere (nicht nur) in Frankfurt erneut unter Gentrifizierungsdruck. Zugleich sind es gerade die damals bekämpften Hochhaus-Neubauten, denen der Abriss droht. Vor diesem Hintergrund lässt der mR-Adventskalender 2020 den Frankfurter Häuserkampf und seine Folgen anhand markanter Zitate und Bilder lebendig werden.
