Bolostromus losrios new species Figs 56–58, map 2 Type material. Male from holotype Ecuador, Los Ríos Province, Centro Cientifico Rio Palenque (00°54’S 79°00’W), 23 Dec. 1980, bosque secundario, colleción MAB, UNESCO (QCAZ). Paratypes: Ecuador: Los Ríos Province: 1J, Centro Cientifico Rio Palenque (00°54’ S 79°00’W), 1. III.1979, bosque secundario, Sandoval (QCAZ); 1J, 2. III.1979, bosque secundario, S. Sandoval (QCAZ). Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition taken from the province in which the type locality is situated. Diagnosis. Males most resemble B. primus n. sp. but are distinguished from all species by the combination of the following characters: carapace and sternum strongly reticulate (Fig. 57A, B) and embolus with strongly bent tip (Fig. 58C, E). Description. Male (holotype): Total length: 2.78; carapace length: 1.36; carapace width: 1.16; carapace height: 0.77; abdomen length: 1.42. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace hexagonal, wider medially, margin sinuous; pars cephalica dark reddish-orange, reticulate; pars thoracica reddish-orange, reticulate; cephalic groove well defined, with small pit; fovea broad, almost straight (Fig. 57A); caput elevate (Fig. 57C). Clypeus height: 0.07. Sternum elongated 0.89/0.67, orange, reticulate; posterior sigilla oval, median and anterior sigillae inconspicuous (Fig. 57B). Labium dark reddish-orange without cuspule. Endites quadrangle; dark reddish-orange with six cuspules; serrula not observed. Chelicerae dark-reddish; promargin three teeth, denticles not observed; rastrellum with six spines. EYES: AME: 0.08; ALE: 0.1; PME: 0.05; PLE: 0.07; interdistances: AME: 0.04; AME-ALE: touching; PME: 0.19; PME-PLE: touching; LE: 0.02; ocular quadrangle: 0.38/0.36/0.15. ABDOMEN: Oval, dorsally light beige, light dark gray medially, ventrally light beige (Fig. 56A, B). Spinnerets: median: 0.12; lateral spinnerets: 0.24/0.14/0.2. LEGS: Light orange-brown except femur I dark reddish-orange. Coxae I–II without inner short stiff setae. Metatarsi I, II with thick, half scopulae; tarsi I–II with thick complete scopulae (Fig. 57D); III–IV no scopulae. Tarsal claw teeth (1/7) (2/7) (3/4) (5/2). LEGS MEASUREMENTS: I 4.51 (1.37/0.59/0.99/0.89/0.67); II 3.70 (1.10/0.46/0. 81/0.72/0.61); III 2.73 (0.82/0.32/0.47/0.61/0.51); IV 4.30 (1.27/0.48/1.00/0.91/0.64); leg formula: 1423. LEGS SPINATION: femur I, II, IV 4d, III (0); IV with 5 grouped pro-apical spines; patellae I, II, IV (0); III with 4p, 2r; tibia I 2v, II 2v; III 2v, 2vap, 1d, 1p; IV 1-1v, 2vap; metatarsus I (0); II 1-1v, 2vap; III 1-2-1d, 1r, 1v, 2vap; IV 1v, 2vap; tarsus I–IV (0). GENITALIA: Palp measurements: 0.67/0.32/0.58/0.29; bulb 0.29 long, 0.15 wide. Femur slightly longer than tibiae, darker than other palpal segments; cymbium with four apical spines (Fig. 58A, B); bulb globose; embolus short with strongly bent tip (Fig. 58C–E). Female: Unknown. Distribution. Only found at the type locality in Los Ríos Province, Ecuador. Natural history. Specimens were collected in a secondary lowland tropical forest.
