In this presentation, the Climate, Land, Energy and Water (CLEWs) systems are addressed to investigate the policy perspectives if Togo aims for net zero by 2050. Four scenarios were explored: Business as Usual, Net zero by 2050, Limited land for solar PV and Limited electricity imports. We used the Open Source Energy Modeling System (OSeMOSYS) to study the interlinkages between climate, land, energy and water, focusing on emissions, land and electricity imports. The results show that it may be cost efficient to rely on electricity imports from neighboring countries in the short term. However, it is also important to consider other solutions, particularly from the perspective of energy security. In addition, the "net zero" objective for agriculture in Togo means phasing out diesel-powered mechanization. Decision-makers may need to promote efficient solar pumping for irrigation from now on.
