This article aims to analyze the influence of the Classical Tradition, Humanism and the Enlightenment within the Order of San Benito in the Principality of Asturias. For this, all the evidence of an intellectual, scientific and academic nature existing for the Benedictine communities (male and female) of the region in the eighteenth century will be taken into account. Evidence such as the presence of outstanding scholars (such as the case of Father Feijoo, in the community of San Vicente de Oviedo), the publication of scientific works, the composition of the holdings of the libraries of the monasteries of the Order or the presence of its members in the founding of societies and institutions of a scientific or cultural nature, will help us to understand what was the true depth that Humanism and the enlightened movement had within the Asturian Benedictine communities (in the eighteenth century).
