Konsortiale Open-Access-Lösungen aufbauen (KOALA): Erfahrungen mit Redaktionen und Verlagen

Abstract

Im BMBF-geförderten Verbundprojekt „KOALA – Konsortiale Open-Access-Lösungen aufbauen“ (2021–2023) entwickelten und erprobten die Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) und das Kommunikations-, Informations-, Medienzentrum der Universität Konstanz (KIM) ein Finanzierungsmodell zur konsortialen Finanzierung von Open-Access-Periodika, das die Kosten des Betriebs einer Zeitschrift oder einer Schriftenreihe nicht, wie derzeit weit verbreitet, mit Article/Book Processing Charges (APCs/BPCs) auf individuelle Autor*innen umlegt. KOALA etablierte konsortiale, gemeinschaftliche Finanzierungslösungen, die als wissenschaftsfreundliche Alternativen zur Ablösung des kostenpflichtigen und zunehmend in der Kritik stehende APC-Modell beitragen. Zur Vorbereitung des Ausbaus und zur Nachnutzung durch weitere Akteure dokumentiert dieser Report im Projekt gewonnene Erkenntnisse und stellt Best-Practice-Leitfäden bereit. Er soll Stakeholder (insbesondere Redaktionen, Verlage, konsortialführende Bibliotheken, Erwerbungsleitungen und Open-Access-Beauftragte wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken, Wissenschaftler*innen in ihrer Rolle als Autor*innen und Herausgeber*innen) ermutigen, sich für die Verbreitung solcher Finanzierungsmodelle einzusetzen.

Das diesem Bericht zugrundeliegende Vorhaben wurde mit Mitteln des Bundesministeriums für Bildung und Forschung unter dem Förderkennzeichen 16TOA039 - KOALA gefördert. Die Verantwortung für den Inhalt dieser Veröffentlichung liegt bei den Autor*innen.
