Repositories can be customized to hold the details of artefacts of many different kinds of research. However, when it comes to the contents of those repositories being exported / shared or exposed to wider infrastructure differences emerge. Whilst STEM outputs are typically well supported, those of other disciplines are often much less well represented and the information in repositories often decays on export, represented in the catch all OTHER. Here we present a challenge for our community from recent experiences, based on practice research, looking at, and calling for engagement on.. how to evolve taxonomies, standards and processes both within repositories and across communities and gatekeeping bodies, discuss our outcomes, and next steps and look to open a wider debate.
