The Book of Revelation begins with a brief introduction that includes the statement “Blessed is the one who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy.” This lector-hearers relation was first noted by Ugo Vanni who sees the intention behind the Book of Revelation is to be read fully in a liturgical setting with a dialogue between the lectors and hearers. When evaluating the use of the book within the Coptic right, there is immense support for this hypothesis. This paper systematically evaluates the notion of Biblical liturgy proposed by Vanni and developed by others scholars in comparison to the Coptic right to show evidence of support along with points of divergence.
