Paraphloeostiba apicalis

Authors: Shavrin, Alexey V.;

Paraphloeostiba apicalis

Abstract

[Paraphloeostiba apicalis (Cameron, 1925)] Phloeonomus apicalis Cameron, 1925: 175; Cameron 1928: 98 Phloeonomus (Phloeonomus) apicalis: Scheerpeltz 1933: 1049 Paraphloeostiba apicalis: Steel 1960: 163; Herman 2001: 538; Rougemont 2001: 19; Schülke & Smetana 2015: 349 Material examined: INDONESIA: 1 Ƌ: ‘Fort de Kock (Sumatra) 920 M. ’, (FMNH); PHILIPPINES: LUZON: 1 ♀: ‘ Los Baños, Laguna, VI: 2.[19]47 LUZON Elev. 300 ft. F.G. Werner leg.’, ‘CNHM-Philippine | Zool. Exped. (1946–47) | F.G. Werner leg.’, ‘on decayed fruit’ (FMNH); 1 Ƌ: ‘ Los Banos P.I. Baker’, ‘ singularis Kr. det. Bernh [auer].’ (FMNH); 1 ♀: ‘ Limay, Luzon Philippines’ (FMNH); 1 Ƌ, 3 ♀♀: ‘Limay Luzon’ (FMNH); MINDANAO: 2 ƋƋ: Tankulan (FMNH). Remarks. Phloeonomus apicalis was originaly described from Sumatra (Cameron 1925). Steel (1960) redescribed it and provided records from Sumatra, Java, and Luzon. Rougemont (2001) recorded it from Hong Kong and Yunnan. During the study of the Paraphloeostiba material from the collection of G. de Rougemont no material of P. apicalis from Hong Kong and Yunnan was found. Specimens from Hong Kong belong to P. formosana, P. gayndahensis, P. sulcicollis, and P. sp. Specimens from Yunnan belong to P. formosana, P. ampliata sp.n., P. gayndahensis, and P. (P.) rougemonti sp.n. Thus, records of P. apicalis from China are probably erroneous and based on confusion with P. gayndahensis. The species is here recorded from Mindanao for the first time.
