Background: In children under the age of five, inadequate breastfeeding, particularly nonexclusive breastfeeding, causes 1.4 million deaths and accounts for 10% of disease burden. According to a global risk assessment of inadequate breastfeeding, 96 percent of all baby deaths in underdeveloped nations are due to improper nutrition during the first six months of life. Therefore this study was aimed to assess exclusive breast feeding and associated factors among mothers with children aged 6- 24 months in Burao, Somaliland.
