Abstract

Öz: Klasik dönem ahlâk anlayışından farklı bir safhaya intikal edildiğini kabul ettiğimiz Tanzimat sonrasında ahlâk alanında birtakım değişim, dönüşüm ve kırılmalar yaşanmıştır. Osmanlı Devleti’nin içinde bulunduğu siyasî, sosyal ve ekonomik problemlere çözüm arandığı bu dönemde ahlâk alanı bir kurtuluş aracı olarak görülmüş ve ilgili literatürde ahlâka farklı anlamlar yüklemiştir. Bu yeni anlamların ahlâk için tayin edilen yeni gayeler şeklinde de okunması mümkündür. Bu çalışmada geç dönem Osmanlı ahlâk müelliflerinin modernleşme sürecinde, klasik dönemden farklı olarak ahlâka ne tür anlamlar yüklediği ve gayeler tayin ettiği üzerinde durulmaktadır. Böylece bir yandan geç dönem Osmanlı dünyasında ahlâk metinlerinin gerek şekil gerek muhteva olarak yaşadığı değişimin anlaşılması daha mümkün hale gelirken diğer yandan ise ahlâk metinlerinin modernleşme sürecinde oynadığı aktif rol daha rahat görünür hale gelecektir. Ayrıca ahlâkın modern dönemde ne derece pratik ve pragmatik bir hususiyet taşıdığı da daha anlaşılır bir vaziyet arz edecektir. Osmanlı modernleşme sürecinde gerçekleşen modern ahlâk tesis etme teşebbüslerinin tam anlamıyla doğru bir şekilde anlaşılması ahlâka yüklenen yeni anlamların hesaba katılmasıyla mümkündür.
