Abstract

R E S U M O O presente trabalho caracteriza e representa as percepções de crianças e adolescentes de uma escola pública, inserida na bacia-escola de São Geraldo, em questões sobre riscos urbanos, por meio de Mapeamento Participativo e Sistemas de Informações Geográficas Participativos. O objetivo deste estudo é identificar os riscos e as amenidades no caso de um desastre, na bacia-escola de São Geraldo onde se situa a escola piloto, a partir da percepção da comunidade escolar. A escola selecionada para a realização do projeto em foco se situa na parte inferior da bacia, localizada no bairro São Geraldo, um dos mais atingidos pelo grande desastre de janeiro de 2011 e onde já ocorreram profundas transformações devido ao adensamento de moradias e construções relacionadas ao uso urbano. Participaram deste processo, vinte e seis alunos de uma turma do primeiro ano do Ensino Médio da Escola Estadual Salustiano José Ribeiro Serafim. Foram apontados 101 pontos de interesse relacionados a riscos, no mapa de riscos feito pelos alunos, incluindo a perspectiva de dois professores, do diretor e do vereador. No mapa de emergência, foram encontrados 57 pontos relacionados a prevenção de riscos. Essa experiência pretende demonstrar que o papel da escola na RRD é tornar-se um espaço de diálogo e de participação social, valorizando diferentes conhecimentos e saberes para produção de novos conhecimentos que contribuam para implementação dos marcos internacionais e da legislação vigente neste âmbito.
