Abstract

Os produtos alimentares silvestres (PAS) com propriedades únicas e exclusivas abundam nas florestas da bacia do Mediterrâneo. Uma proporção significativa das pessoas que vivem nesta região recolhe e consome PAS, mas todo o seu potencial comercial não foi ainda desbloqueado. À medida que a procura continua a crescer, aspetos como a produção local, a sustentabilidade e o valor social acrescentado atraem cada vez mais a atenção de consumidores conscientes. A este respeito, os PAS podem dar contributos significativos para economias de base biológica, inteligentes e inclusivas e para o desenvolvimento da região rural mediterrânica, desde que sejam abordados de uma forma sensata. Tal significa assegurar que: a) a definição, classificação e regulamentação são melhoradas; (b) soluções inovadoras em matéria de qualidade, segurança e sustentabilidade são verificadas e melhoradas; (c) são promovidas estratégias de marketing conscientes considerando as questões ambientais, sociais e de governança (ESG); (d) são desenvolvidas estruturas organizacionais integrativas e modelos de negócio.
