Abstract

Le foreste mediterranee abbondano di prodotti alimentari selvatici (PAS) i quali hanno proprietà organolettiche uniche ed esclusive. Una parte significativa delle persone che vivono nei paesi mediterranei, raccoglie e consuma PAS, anche se il loro uso commerciale è utilizzato al minimo delle sue potenzialità. La domanda di PAS è in continua crescita, e aspetti come la produzione locale, la sostenibilità e il valore aggiunto socio-economico sono sempre più richiesti dai consumatori. A questo proposito, il PAS può dare un contributo significativo alle bioeconomie e allo sviluppo delle aree rurali del Mediterraneo, a condizione che siano affrontate alcune tematiche in modo ragionevole. Ciò significa che: a) Si deve migliorare la definizione PAS, la loro classificazione nell’ordinamento giuridico e l’introduzione di regole per la raccolta; b) Si dovrebbero adottare nuovi approcci per garantire la qualità, la sicurezza e la sostenibilità dei PAS; c) Si dovrebbero promuovere strategie di marketing attente alle tematiche ambientali, sociali e di governance (ESG); d) Si deve promuovere e sostenere lo sviluppo di strutture organizzative e modelli aziendali interconnessi tra di loro.
