Impacto da cobertura vacinal sobre número de casos, hospitalização e óbitos por coqueluche

Abstract

Introdução: A coqueluche é uma doença infecciosa aguda, de alta transmissibilidade e distribuição universal, que tem como agente etiológico a Bordatella pertussis. Ela compromete especificamente o aparelho respiratório e se caracteriza por paroxismos de tosse seca. Objetivo geral: Analisar o impacto da cobertura vacinal sobre as hospitalização e óbitos por coqueluche. Metodologia: estudo descritivo, transversal, quantitativo sobre o impacto da cobertura vacinal nas hospitalizações e óbitos por coqueluche em Alagoas. Resultados e discussão: Entre 2014 e 2022, foram registrados 723 casos de coqueluche no estado de Alagoas. 52,84% foram no sexo feminino e 47,16% foram no sexo masculino. O número de casos em menores de um ano, foi predominante. Em 2018 houve a maior cobertura com a vacina pentavalente, enquanto 2020 atingiu a menor cobertura. No período estudado foram registradas 269 internações por coqueluche. Dessas internações, 82,59% foram de crianças menores de um ano. Em 2014, houve o maior índice de mortalidade comparado aos anos posteriores. Conclusão: Com base nos dados obtidos, conclui-se que o fator principal para a incidência, hospitalização e óbitos pela coqueluche é o esquema vacinal incompleto e a perda da imunidade adquirida decorrente da baixa cobertura vacinal. Para o enfrentamento dessa realidade, propõe-se criar estratégias para aumentar a taxa de imunização nas crianças e gestantes a fim de evitar uma reemergência da coqueluche no grupo mais vulnerável.
