Percepciones sobre corrupción y deshonestidad académica entre estudiantes universitarios

Abstract

Los estudios sobre deshonestidad académica buscan comprender la influencia de los factores culturales y cognitivos en las formas de relacionamiento que ocurren en el aula como parte del proceso de aprendizaje, que constituyen expresiones de corrupción. En este artículo se exploran las percepciones y opiniones sobre el tema a partir de un estudio descriptivo, transversal, no probabilístico y por conveniencia, realizado entre 329 estudiantes del último semestre de distintas carreras de una universidad mexicana. Los resultados sugieren que la corrupción se asocia principalmente con prácticas de soborno y extorsión en las que media el dinero, mientras que copiar en los exámenes o pasarse tareas entre compañeros se justifican como muestras de apoyo y solidaridad. Como parte de la estrategia de fundamentación teórica y de discusión de los resultados se hace referencia a algunos hallazgos destacados de estudios similares y recientes realizados sobre plagio entre estudiantes universitarios en España y México, que señalan la importancia del grupo de iguales como factor contextual de estos comportamientos. En términos generales, el texto plantea una interpretación sociocultural de la deshonestidad académica, destacando la influencia de los lazos de amistad, compañerismo, reciprocidad y solidaridad como mediadores en las percepciones y comportamientos de las y los estudiantes, así como los esfuerzos recientes, basados en programas antiplagio y en sus usos como parte de la formación universitaria para fomentar una cultura de honestidad académica.
