39. Mallotus maclurei Merr. (Euphorbiaceae) in Philipp. J. Sci. 21(4): 347. 1922. TYPE:— CHINA. Hainan: Wuzhishan, Wuzhi Shan, alt. 600 m, 20 December 1921, F. A. McClure 2076 (i.e. Canton Christian College Herbarium 8558) (syntype: PNH, destroyed, A 00048358 image!, NY 00069905 image!). Merrill (1922a) validly published the name Mallotus maclurei Merr. with only one gathering, McClure 8558, cited in the protologue. However, the collecting number on the label of the syntype specimen exists in A is 2076, while its herbarium number is Canton Christian College Herbarium 8558.Therefore, the erroneous collecting number is to be corrected.
