PARASITOSIS Y HELMINTIASIS EN LAS MASCOTAS PERROS Y GATOS

Abstract

Objetivo: describir la parasitosis y helmintiasis en las mascotas perros y gatos. Método: mediante un muestreo probabilístico aleatorio se seleccionó, 74 muestras de materia fecal pertenecientes a 51 perros y 23 gatos domiciliarios. El procesamiento de la materia fecal fue con la técnica de concentración formol-éter. Se valoró la observación al microscopio (10x y 40x). Resultados: el 5,4% de las mascotas no se encontraron vacunadas donde los perros representaron el 75%. Hubo un 47,3% de las mascotas en adopción, las restantes procedieron de tiendas, criaderos, nacidas en la residencia, parqueadero conjunto o recogidas en la calle. La frecuencia parasitaria fue: complejo Entamoeba spp (47,1%), Blastocystis (37,3%), Giardia sp (4%), Endolimax sp; (10%), mientras que la helmintiasis correspondió a: Uncinarias (6%), Strongyloides stercoralis (4%), Toxocara canis (7,8%), Dypilidium caninum (2%). Solo en los gatos se describió el complejo Entamoeba spp (56,6%) y Blastocystis (60,9%). Discusión: se encontró parasitosis y helmintiasis en las muestras fecales de perros y gatos donde la frecuencia fue mayor para los perros. Asimismo, el complejo Entamoeba spp y Blastocystis se presentaron en los perros y gatos donde el complejo Entamoeba spp presentó mayor porcentaje en los perros, pero Blastocystis fue para los gatos. Conclusiones: la parasitosis y helmintiasis estuvieron presente en los perros y gatos siendo de preocupación zoonótica.
