Abstract

El uso de los sistemas de información geográfica como un importante componente tecnológico en la medición científica, así como su variabilidad de aplicación, extendida en todos los sectores productivos, permite tener las bases suficientes para analizar, visualizar y difundir información de interés para la planificación y toma de decisiones a través del uso de la georreferenciación. Por esta razón, el presente artículo plantea el diseño de un mapa georreferenciado, el cual permita visualizar las capacidades investigativas, científicas y tecnológicas de Venezuela, haciendo hincapié en el uso de los sistemas de información geográfica. Con este trabajo se pone de manifiesto que, la georreferenciación permite caracterizar de manera objetiva e integral, la información necesaria de la ubicación geográfica de los centros de investigación y desarrollo, así como su relación con información referente a los investigadores adscritos a dichos centros. Para ello, se hace necesario contar con herramienta tecnológica como QGIS, ello con el fin de proporcionar información oportuna y valiosa, para dar respuestas cónsonas en la formulación de políticas públicas, alineadas a la definición de los motores socio-productivos, tendientes a maximizar las capacidades investigativas, científicas y tecnológicas nacionales, en beneficio del país, y de sus habitantes.
