Abstract

The Pygmalion episode is fundamental in defining the status of the artist and the art object in Ovid's Metamorphoses. The article proposes an analysis of the literary passage and a framing of the figure of Pygmalion in the aesthetic-philosophical categories of the theory of art in the Ancient World.
