Pemanfaatan Limbah Sekam Padi Menjadi Briket Arang untuk Menambah Pendapatan Masyarakat Kabupaten Lamongan

Abstract

Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah memberikan pelatihan mengenai proses pembuatan briket arang kepada masyarakat. Kondisi saat ini ketersediaan bahan bakar minyak dan gas berkurang sedangkan kebutuhan konsumsi energi di masyarakat meningkat. Maka perlu mencari sumber energi alternatif untuk mengganti bahan bakar minyak dan gas. Kondisi daerah Desa Jubel Kidul adalah desa dengan area pertanian yang sangat luas, sehingga sekam padi mudah ditemui dan belum dimanfaatkan secara maksimal dan banyak yang hanya menjadi limbah. Sekam padi memiliki nilai kalor yang tinggi sebesar 3300-3600 kkal/kg, untuk itu pengelolaan sekam padi menjadi briket ini menjadi sangat penting. Dengan tingginya nilai kalor dari sekam padi tersebut, maka sekam padi dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif bahan bakar berupa briket arang. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah melalui penyuluhan, pelatihan, serta diskusi dan evaluasi. Hasil yang didapat dari terselenggaranya pengabdian ini adalah meningkatnya kesadaran, pengetahuan, beserta keterampilan masyarakat Desa Jubel Kidul Kecamatan Sugio Kabupaten Lamongan dalam hal ini adalah petani terkait manfaat limbah sekam padi beserta proses pembuatan briket dari limbah sekam padi. Briket tersebut sangat potensial dijadikan peluang usaha dan guna meningkatkan pendapatan petani. Dari hasil pengabdian masyarakat didapatkan bahwa masyarakat memiliki ketertarikan yang besar mengenai proses produksi briket sekam padi, masyarakat mendapatkan informasi yang jelas mengenai cara memanfaatkan limbah sekam padi dan merubah sekam padi tersebut menjadi briket yang memiliki nilai ekonomi yang lebih tinggi.
