A survey of early modern research on the elusive coinage in the name of the usurper Regalianus and his wife Dryantilla. The focus is on 18th-century contributions by Erasmus Froelich, Edoardo Corsini, Joseph Khell, and Joseph Eckhel (who published authentic specimens), as well as on Jacopo da Strada (1507-1588). Curiously, Strada published an invented coin in the usurper's name, which was known from literary sources, before any authentic specimens had become known.
