Abstract

Contexto: Las enfermedades fúngicas, comúnmente conocidas como Sigatoka negra (Mycosphaerella fijiensis Morelet) y el marchitamiento por Fusarium (Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense), siempre se han considerado como las enfermedades más importantes de los plátanos y bananos a nivel mundial y por tanto, han recibido más atención. Sin embargo, las enfermedades bacterianas causan impactos significativos en el rendimiento y las prácticas de manejo no siempre son bien conocidas. Objetivos: I. Describir e ilustrar los síntomas que se corresponden con la pudrición humedad del pseudotallo en una plantación de plátano, observados en predios de una finca ubicada en Santo Domingo, provincia Villa Clara, Cuba, en el mes de septiembre de 2019; II. Abordar el estado del arte de los principales marchitamientos bacterianos, que actualmente afectan a plátanos y bananos y III. Brindar elementos que contribuyen a la adopción de prácticas de bioseguridad a nivel de fincas, para manejar la pudrición humedad del pseudotallo y la pudrición del rizoma. Resultados: Se describen los síntomas de la enfermedad después de confirmada la incursión del patógeno en un área de producción determinada. Además, se actualiza sobre aspectos relacionados con la epidemiología y manejo de la enfermedad bacteriana. Conclusiones: El éxito de las estrategias de manejo, depende en gran medida del desarrollo de capacidades y actividades sistemáticas de erradicación y saneamiento.
