Abstract

o cateter central de inserção periférica (PICC) é um dispositivo multifuncional, de acesso venoso, indicado para terapias de média e longa duração como é o caso do tratamento do câncer. Objetivo: mostrar por meio da revisão de literatura os benefícios do cateter central de inserção periférica em pacientes oncológicos. Métodos: este estudo consiste em uma revisão de literatura do tipo integrativa, onde foram selecionadas 8 publicações científicas referentes ao período de 2013 a 2023, indexados nas principais bases de dados PUBMED, BVS, LILACS, MEDLINE e Scielo, seguindo os critérios de inclusão e exclusão estabelecidos. Resultados: o PICC é considerado um dispositivo seguro e viável, sendo a primeira opção de acesso venoso durante o tratamento de pacientes oncológicos. Facilita a inserção de fármacos e quimioterápicos, servindo para realização de nutrição parental, transfusões e coletas de sangue. Para tanto, devido ao surgimento de possíveis complicações, exige administração adequada de profissionais qualificados e experientes. Conclusão: o PICC é fundamental durante a quimioterapia, compreendido como uma alternativa segura, pois seus benefícios compreendem na redução da taxa dos efeitos adversos de fármacos, reduz múltiplas punções venosas e diminui o desconforto físico e mental de pacientes com câncer. Assim, sua administração integra a assistência de enfermagem na oncologia.
