The rate of photosynthesis, stomatal conductance, intercellular CO₂ concentration and transpiration rate, as well as leaf specific mass and the canopy temperature were studied in chickpea and lentil plants. Some phy- siological traits (high photosynthesis rate, leaf specific mass) can be used as selection criteria for the creation of productive chickpea and lentil varieties.
