The IDEAMAPS Network (https://ideamapsnetwork.org) aims to develop and maintain an Integrated DEprived Area MAPping System that leverages the strengths of the current silo-ed approaches to "slum" area mapping. The network recently launched the development of a data ecosystem, based on the domain of Deprivation Framework (Abascal et al., 2022, that allows the integration and exchange of data to map and characterize urban deprivation. The aim is to develop a scalable and transferable data approach that builds on Earth Observation (EO) data and methods, open Geospatial data, municipal data, and community-based data. The presentation provides and overview of the conceptual development of the IDEAMAPS ecosystem and EO/Geospatial mapping approaches to produce routine and accurate data on deprivation for urban centres in Low-and-Middle Income Countries (LMICs).
