Open Access aims to enable people worldwide to access scholarly information without barriers. To achieve this, various publication channels exist, and the number of possible publication venues continues to grow. The presentation will focus on explaining which selection criteria should be applied when choosing a publication venue in order to best achieve the goals of the Open Access movement. For this purpose, we take a closer look at the myths that still exist regarding Open Access. The following questions will be discussed: What best practices should I follow in publishing open access? What initiatives are there to push forward the publishing system's transformation? Which tools can help me to find a suitable publication venue?
