Vergleich der Empfehlungen zur Erhebung sozio-demographischer Merkmale in epidemiologischen und sozialwissenschaftlichen Umfragen

Abstract

Grundlegende soziodemographische Merkmale werden von allen personenbezogenen Umfragen in der Epidemiologie und den Sozialwissenschaften erfasst. Neben den „Demographischen Standards“ (aktuelle Version: Hoffmeyer-Zlotnik et al. 2016) liegen jedoch weitere Empfehlungen für standardisierte Fragebogenitems vor. In diesem Beitrag, der ein Ergebnis eines einjährigen Kurzprojekts von KonsortSWD in enger Kooperation mit NFDI4Health darstellt, werden die Empfehlungen der „Demographischen Standards“ (ebd.), der NAKO Gesundheitsstudie (2022), MethodCov (Arbeitsgruppe Soziodemographie MethodCov 2021) und der Standardfragenkatalog des Projekts Best_FDM (Rat Für Sozial- und Wirtschaftsdaten 2023) für von Schneider et al. (2022) betrachtete soziodemographische Merkmale miteinander verglichen. Jeweils werden Fragetyp, Fragetext bzw. Frageformulierung, Instruktionen, Antwortkategorien und, wenn relevant, die Filterführung miteinander verglichen. Darauf aufbauend wird die Kohärenz der Empfehlungen untereinander bewertet. Insgesamt zeigen sich für die betrachteten Items der gewählten Empfehlungen aus Gesundheits- und Sozialwissenschaften sehr viele Überschneidungen, aber auch kleinere und manchmal größere Unterschiede, welche sich jedoch eher durch das Bestreben nach möglichst „ökonomischen“ Erhebungsinstrumenten als unterschiedliche Erkenntnisinteressen in Gesundheits- und Sozialwissenschaften erklären lassen.
