The Gambia is the smallest country in mainland Africa with a total land area of 10,200 km2 and a population of 2.7 million people as 0f 2023. The country has a tiny economy dominated by services which is followed by agriculture and industry.The Gambia faces challenges such as unstable electricity supply, declining precipitation rates as well as high food imports dependency. Given this situation, it is wort examining how the country's energy transition can impact on other sectors using the CLEWS framework. This presentation is an output of the Energy Modelling Platform for Africa (EMP-A 2023).
