Abstract

EFECTOS DE LA CONTAMINACIÓN EN LAS MATRICES AMBIENTALES AGUA, SUELO Y ATMÓSFERA 58 JeanCarlo Andrade59, Cristian Lara-Basantes60, Diego Muñoz61, Cristhian Chicaiza-Ortiz62 RESUMEN En el siguiente texto, se abordan diversas problemáticas ambientales referidas a contaminación atmosférica, contaminación del suelo y aguas y la creciente inquietud sobre el cambio climático en Ecuador. Hoy en día, el debate ya no se mantiene centrado en la diferencia entre países desarrollados y en vías de desarrollo; de hecho, se reconoce con juicio mayoritario que todos los países deben participar en la reducción de emisiones, aunque no necesariamente de la misma manera. En la región de América Latina y el Caribe, las emisiones de Gases de Efecto Invernadero contribuyeron con el 9% de las emisiones mundiales en 2011. Cabe señalar que, entre los efectos de acuerdo al quinto informe del IPCC, existe la posibilidad de un aumento del nivel del mar (65 a 75 cm) para el año 2100, al igual que la reducción del caudal de los ríos y la contaminación, la deforestación, por ejemplo, altera los ecosistemas originales en sistemas menos diversos, con mucha menos biomasa, y los hace menos estables. De manera indirecta, la salud humana también se ve afectada cuando se producen olas de calor extremo o enfermedades relacionadas con vectores, los cuales, amplían sus áreas de influencia con mayor frecuencia.
