hukum laut internasional ialah seperangkat norma yang mengatur tentang hubungan hukum antara negara pantai serta yang berhubungan dengan laut. berisikan aturan-aturan mengenai kedaulatan laut, yuridiksi negara, hak negara atas perairan tersebut. hukum ini mengkaji terkait hukum dilaut serta proses-proses penegakkannya. hukum laut hingga kini memiliki penjelmaan dari supremasi negara maju maritim.
