Recently Csabai et al. have found a metagenomic sample set originally collected at Antarctica that most likely as a result of contamination contains traces of unique SARS-CoV-2 variants. Later on they identified putative host genomes. The preprints resulted a wide discussion in the news and social media and some comments on the preprint server or via private emails. Here we briefly reflect on some of them and present additional foreign sequences found in the same sample set.
